I've never been one to go where the herd is going - rather I did what I loved and what I believed in. Maybe not the best way to get rich, but by far the most fun and fulfilling!

A family of engineers! My wife is a (retired) civil engineer, and both our kids are pursuing advanced degrees in engineering.
Quite a few people actually. But the common thread has been to seek out people of good character, and those who encourage me to be one myself.
Don't take shortcuts. Master the basics like math and science. Also, it's ok to change your mind about what you want to do. As you grow and learn, whole worlds will open up for you - worlds of opportunity that you never dreamed existed. Explore those worlds!
My craziest hobby is restoring ancient computers - those made before about 1976.
